Trinidad: Small City, Big Views

Trinidad: Small City, Big Views

A short drive from Eureka lies a little coastal city with an area of about one square mile. Trinidad, California may be small, but it’s got some mighty views.

Trinidad State Beach is beautiful, but as an endless summer-chaser, the Northern Cali beach was too chilly for me. You may notice my clenched fist (I was cold) and my feet buried in sand (which was warm from the sun) in the above photo.

A hike around Trinidad Head awarded us with views of tree-covered labyrinth trails and Trinidad Harbor from above.

On the public pier, we saw seagulls try to find crab scraps and wild otters getting fed whole crabs caught from a local fisherman.

The beach at Trinidad Wharf provided another nice perspective of the harbor.

After all the exploring, a chili bowl at Seascape Restaurant was just what I needed.

Picturesque Trinidad Memorial Lighthouse offers another great viewpoint when going through the city center.

Dean and I moved onwards from Trinidad to explore the Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park and spend the night in Crescent City, but we wish we had spent more time in this charming seaside city. If  you can, stay a night in Trinidad– I bet the sunsets are spectacular (send me photos)!
